roots. gonna get me some.

Each home we’ve lived in during our dating (oh yeh, I’m a sinner!) and married life has been a’tweener. It’s not been the forever house.

I wasn’t looking for anything magical in the forever house. Circumstances just caused each house to be the not forever house.

Our first house was a small 2 bedroom bungalow. Super cute for newlyweds and first time buyers. This is the house we brought our first child home to and where he spent the first 5 months of his life. It’s the house that held our wedding and baby showers. It’s where we got our second dog. It’s the house we sold in 4 days. I still have great memories of this not forever house.

The second house was the we are relocating, not sure where we are going house. Of those on the market at the time and in what appeared to be a great walking neighborhood close to restaurants & grocery, it was our favorite. We knew this house would hold us for 3-5 years, then school would start and we would probably move to a new school district. That was almost 7 years ago.  We brought our second child home to this house. We said goodbye to my first dog and adopted another in this house. We started backyard football Sunday parties. My kids learned of Santa Claus and the tooth fairy in this house. We made some incredible and what I hope will be lifelong friends in this house.

Our next house is our forever house. And by forever I simply mean it’s the first place we’ve moved that I don’t feel is some kinda temporary. I can see prom & homecoming pictures taken in this house. I can see our kids and their friends hangin’ chillaxin’ in this house.  I feel settled. And there’s no need to pick up and move in 3-5 years.

It’s home. And I’m excited to start the next chapter of our adventure. So sit back. I’m hopeful it’s gonna be a long chapter!

  1. I remember your first rentals, your new bathroom looks bigger than the studio apt you two first shared you’ve come along way and proud that the boys and I could be apart of the beginning of your first homes/rentals, great memories and look forward to visiting you in your new home.

  2. Such a bitter sweet time. Hard to believe we won’t be seeing you at drop off/pick up, but am sooo happy for you guys!

  3. Cheers to you, my German traveling companion! I may grow old & forget your names, but I will forever remember your brother with the suitcase on his knees. Still makes me laugh. Poor guy!
