bustin’ with pride

Since we moved before the school year was out, my little man is missing the last 2 weeks of the school year. If we are all honest with each other, we know nothing is taught those last two weeks…okay, nothing SUPER DUPER important. In order to get him registered for his new school, they’ve requested a letter from his current teacher or principal saying he’s ready for 2nd grade.

Here is what I received from his teacher (edited slightly to protect the innocent):

To Whom It May Concern,
I was William’s first grade teacher at Fairfax.  I am just writing this letter to you to let you know that Will is more than ready to go to second grade next year.
Academically, Will is a very fast learner.  He loves to write imaginative stories with a beginning, middle, and end.  He reads fluently and with expression.  His math skills way surpass those of his classmates.  He amazes me with how much he knows as far as computation goes!    He has a great love of nature and all living things.  Most importantly, he always puts forth 100% effort.
Socially, Will is very friendly and social.  The kids were so upset when they found out that he was moving.  We had a lot of tears:(  Will has a way of speaking so that others actively listen to what he has to say.  He is always willing to help a friend in need.
Enjoy the time that you have with William and his family.  They are true gems!
Warmly,
Stacey

I’m like a momma lion after reading this.  Walking around, all tall and strong, sticking my chest out, shoulders back. Looking kinda trashy, but proud nonetheless.

And thank you Will’s first grade teacher!  You made for a great, great year for us!!
